Les différentes cafetières

Originating in Africa, America, or Asia, coffee is enjoyed all over the world. Here are the coffee makers and grind sizes to choose, depending on whether you prefer it smooth, strong, or aromatic… everything you need to become your own barista!

Electric coffee maker with filter

Electric coffee maker with filter

As its name suggests, this coffee maker uses a filter system. It contains a reservoir from which the water, once heated, slowly pours over the ground coffee in your filter. The liquid then flows into a receptacle, most often made of glass: this is the principle of infusion.

There are three types of machines: one offering a drip system for a lighter coffee, another with a showerhead system for more even distribution and a more aromatic coffee, and a final "hybrid" one combining the drip principle with that of the showerhead.

The available filters can be disposable in white or brown paper (without bleaching treatment) or permanent.

For a more eco-friendly coffee, choose their washable (linen) or biodegradable version.

We recommend a medium grind for this type of machine. Note that all of our coffees work very well for filter coffee preparation ;).

Recipe for making perfect filter coffee

  1. Place your filter

  2. Pour 10g of your favorite coffee per 100ml (one heaped teaspoon).

  3. Fill the water tank as needed

  4. Press the button

  5. Enjoy

Tip: You can adjust the amount of powder to your taste. The more powder you use, the stronger the coffee will be.

French press coffee maker

French press coffee maker

The French press consists of a cylindrical glass container containing a press that separates the coffee grounds from the rest of the coffee by pressing. The device also works on the principle of infusion.

To make the perfect coffee, you need to choose a coarse grind that you can grind at home with a manual or electric coffee grinder. There are all sorts available on the market.

Recipe for making perfect coffee with a French press

  1. Warm the container with hot water: this avoids the hot-cold shock that is fatal to glass containers.

  2. Heat water to 90°C in a saucepan or kettle.

  3. Empty your coffee maker of its hot water and add 7.5g of ground coffee per 90ml cup.

  4. Pour your water at 90°C over your ground coffee and cover with the piston lid without lowering it.

  5. Let it steep for 3 to 5 minutes.

  6. Gently press the piston and wait another 5 minutes.

  7. Help yourself

The French press coffee maker preserves the coffee's aromas while minimizing bitterness. The fruity notes of our Vigor coffee pair well with this type of coffee maker.

Coffee in a dripper

Dripper

The dripper (filter holder) operates on the principle of slow coffee. It consists of a cone placed over a cup, into which a filter is inserted. The Chemex is a variation of the dripper that includes an additional receptacle. It is recommended to use a medium grind with a dripper. Our VIGOR range is still perfectly suited to this device. As a third-wave coffee with a light roast, dripping brings out all the aromas of small red berries, without the bitterness or acidity often associated with this type of roast.

Recipe for making perfect coffee with a dripper

  1. Heat 300 ml of filtered or spring water to 90-95 °C in a saucepan or kettle.

  2. Place your dripper with a filter on top of a container with a capacity of 2 cups.

  3. Rinse the filter with hot water, wait for it to drain completely and empty the water.

  4. Place between 15 and 30 g of coffee in your filter.

  5. Pour 60 ml of your previously heated water to degas the coffee and wait 30 seconds.

  6. Pour the remaining 240 ml of liquid using circular motions.

  7. Remove the dripper and the filter.

  8. Enjoy

Italian coffee maker

Mocka

The Italian coffee maker, also called a Moka pot, is a metal stovetop-mounted appliance. It uses the expansion of hot air to brew coffee. This is known as a pressure brewing system. The coffee maker consists of three main parts: a water reservoir at the base, a funnel containing the ground coffee, and a drip tray at the top to collect the brewed coffee. As the water boils, it rises through the ground coffee and collects in the drip tray.

The moka pot can be made of stainless steel, copper, or aluminum. Electric versions are also available. Medium-to-fine grind espressos are best suited to this appliance.

Recipe for making perfect Italian-style coffee

  1. Fill the small funnel provided for this purpose with ground coffee by tapping, but without tamping down the small dome made by the coffee.

  2. Fill the water reservoir with the desired number of cups plus a little extra.

  3. Place your coffee maker on your stove with the lid open and wait for the liquid to rise into the top compartment.

  4. When the brewing has finished, close the valve and remove the coffee maker from the heat.

  5. Help yourself.

Our Vital, Spark and Decaf ranges are perfectly suited to your Italian coffee maker.

Coffee maker with reusable capsules

coffee capsule

Often chosen for its ease of use and time-saving benefits, the capsule coffee maker uses a percolation system. To minimize your environmental impact, we recommend reusable versions. Capsules are available in plastic or, even better, stainless steel, which not only reduce waste but also save you money in the long run. Choose a model that fits your machine and try all our coffees!

The device consists of different elements: a water tank, a pump, a removable capsule and a heating block.

The capsule acts as a filter for the coffee. Then, through the action of a pump, pressure is generated in the capsule before it comes into contact with the water: this is the extraction of the coffee.

This process has the advantage of bringing out the aromas thanks to a progressive oxygenation due to the jerky movement of the pump.

No need for sophisticated processes to make your coffee perfectly; the machine takes care of it automatically. You simply choose the grind that suits you before filling the capsule: the finer the grind, the stronger the coffee will be.

How to use your capsule:

  1. Fill the water tank

  2. Place your pre-filled capsule in the designated receptacle.

  3. Press the button

  4. Enjoy
